do some shadow puppetry

Learning how to be a proper puppeteer takes quite a lot of time, effort and skill. So let’s ignore all that and take the easy route by diving into the world of shadow puppets instead.

step 1

Grab yourself a small light, torch or lamp, and set it up facing a light-coloured wall.

step 2

Make sure the rest of the room is relatively dark – this one is best done at night.

step 3

Sit yourself in front of the light, so that if you hold your hand up, it makes a clear shadow on the wall.

step 4

Then you’re ready to visit the shadow zoo – try and see if you can make the animals below:

- cat

- bird

- dog

- camel

- rabbit

- swan

step 5

Try and create your own animals using just your hands. Or even introduce some props.
