It’s easy to head into the supermarket and pick up some vegetables for dinner, but there’s something more rewarding about growing your own. And they come with the added bonus of zero queuing time.
Indoors
Step 1
Chop off the bottom of a head of lettuce (the harder brownish bit) so you’ve got a chunk about 2cm tall.
Step 2
Fill a small glass up with about 1cm of water.
Step 3
Pop your lettuce end into the water (but don’t let the water cover it).
Let some brand new lettuce leaves grow out of the stump over the next few days. This should work first time, but if it doesn’t, just try again with a new lettuce.
